So What IS this blog called, really?
After Tim proposed and I said yes, we decided we needed a web site. TimothyAndHeather.com seemed like the natural name at the time (neither of us are creative geniuses when it comes to picking names for this stuff; thank goodness we did a good job choosing Bobbin's:-)). So "TimothyAndHeather.com" was the domain we registered and our site - TimothyAndHeather.com - was born.
For the first 2 years we really were just "Timothy And Heather" in real life, and that's what I blogged about. Me, us, our interests and observations in life, the building of our home, our wedding, our honeymoon, other travels. But as the ditty goes, first came love, then came marriage, then came Bobbin in a baby carriage. Once I was pregnant, our blog tended to be dominated by my random thoughts about my pregnant state of being and musings about our impending parenthood. And when our Bobbin was born, the focus shifted once more to the miracle that was our little girl and the daily discoveries that she and we were making through this journey of parenthood. And as our attention and priority shifted from the two of us to our newest little family member, so too did the name "TimothyAndHeather.com" move from the center stage large font up at the top, to the smaller text of the subtitle at the bottom.
Blog mirrors life.
This is why on most of the site now you'll see us call this place "Bringing Up Bobbin"; because that is what this blog is now mostly about. However as you can see in the subject archive, I still write about other stuff too. Not as frequently, but little tidbits of other topics do find their way on here from time to time. There are still a few portions of the site that do go by old the name of "Timothy And Heather" but I'm too busy being a Mom to be bothered to change them. Since y'all are intelligent enough to be able to read and use a computer, I figure you're also smart enough to know that regardless of whether the page you're reading is titled "Bringing Up Bobbin" or whether it says "Timothy And Heather", you know it's all the same little corner of cyberspace when it's all said and done. Our corner. Timothy's and Heather's and Bobbin's.
About Tim
When I asked Tim what I should say about him here, he said "Devilishly handsome; total stud. That should cover it". I guess I can't argue with that!
Tim and I met through work. Twice, actually. The first time, we were working in separate groups for the same company. Our friend Janel had a dinner party for several of her friends and we met there. Tim actually gave me my first gift at this dinner party. It was a fire extinguisher. He gave one to Janel as well. I was still smarting a bit from the whole incident that sparked all of the fire extinguisher jokes (and may have still been cleaning up after it), so I didn't really find it quite as funny as Tim did at the time. I think I might have even rolled my eyes at him. But I kept the fire extinguisher!
The second time was about a year later. Tim and I found ourselves working in the same group. I was completely over the fire extinguisher stuff by then :-). Anyway - we started hanging out, and then officially started dating. A couple of years later we were engaged, then married, then parents. And... well this blog tells the rest!
About Heather
Me, I'm just your average Canadian Computer Geek Chick (CCGC). Whatever else you need to know about me, you'll figure out by reading my posts :-)
About Bobbin (aka "Baby Girl" in the first year)
Bobbin made her debut on August 4th, 2005 weighing in at 9lbs 4oz and measuring 21 1/4 inches in length. She is the center of our universe and we are totally head-over-heels in love with her. She's the smartest, most amazing girl there is, was, or will ever be, but we're not biased or anything ;-)
Of course, we mustn't forget...
Our 3 furry "kids" - Ginger, Spice, and Tommy! I guess you could call us a "blended family"? :-)
And what's with all the...
Self-portraits? It's just a little tradition we have that has sort of become our theme. Whenever we go somewhere different, we snap a self portrait with what has since become my digital camera (Tim having gotten himself a cool-snazzy-all-professional-like sorta camera. You can tell I'm not a camera buff). So that when we're old and senile we'll remember where we've been. Ok, we may not actually remember we were there, but it's still a fun little tradition!
