A Day in the Life...

Posted by Heather on September 13, 2005 at 8:25 PM

12:00am - After finishing my last bottle, Daddy went and warmed up my bed with a nice towel from the dryer so that I wouldn't be cold when he put me down. My daddy is so smart! He figured out that I was waking up when he put me down because the mattress was cold after being in his nice warm arms or the bouncy chair. So now he warms my bed up for me and I don't even notice when he puts me in it. He's so good to me!

2:30am - Mommy came in and got me because she knew I was hungry. I didn't even have to cry. She's getting good.

4:45am - After working on it for over an hour, I FINALLY finished my poopy diaper. But then, I was really uncomfortable. So I called for Mommy and Daddy and they came and changed me. I like it when I get both of them. Mommy seemed really impressed. She wrinkled her nose and said "Pee-Yoo" a lot. But then she also kissed me and said "Good Girl!" so she must have really liked it. Anyway - I hated being changed, but it sure felt good afterwards to be in a clean diaper. And Daddy made faces and talked to me and kept me warm so it wasn't so bad afterall.

5:15am - As good as it felt, the whole diaper changing thing really woke me up. I couldn't sleep. And my tummy was acting up so I didn't want to lie down. So I called for Mommy. And she came in and cuddled me and then took me out to the family room and put me in my bouncy chair while she slept on the sofa. She gave me a cuddly blanket too so I was nice and warm. And my tummy stopped bugging me so I got some sleep.

8:00am - time for breakfast! Mommy was so good to me earlier that I decided to just talk to myself for a while before waking her up. Turns out she woke up on her own and got me my breakfast without my even having to ask. I think I'll keep her. After breakfast I played hide and seek with my bunny and Mommy until Daddy woke up.

9:00am - I hung out with Daddy while Mommy went to take her shower. He's a lot of fun, my Daddy! I love to watch his face and listen to his voice! And he teaches me all sorts of stuff! And when he holds me he's so warm I can't help but fall asleep!

11:00am - I woke up in my crib. How'd that happen? Time to eat again. So I called for someone to come get me. I'll be glad when i figure out that whole walking and climbing thing.

11:30am - Mommy and Daddy put me into my car seat and took me to a place called IKEA. I have no idea what it is, because I slept through the entire thing.

2:30pm - We got home just in time for me to eat again. And boy was I hungry!

4:00pm - I'd been awake since we got home. I think Mommy and Daddy were tired, but I wasn't! So after my 2:30 bottle Mommy and Daddy got out my toys and we played and sang and danced and I practised my situps and pushups. After a while though I was getting kinda tired of looking at the same old toys and stuff so Mommy put these little puppets on her fingers and gave me a show. It was pretty funny. I even smiled. Mommy and Daddy seem to like it when I do that.

Then at 4:00 Mommy gave me my late afternoon bottle. It had medicine in it. I like that they put my medicine in my bottle now because the one time Mommy gave it to me directly it tasted HORRIBLE. I had to make all kinds of faces afterwards to let her know just how yucky it was.

7:00pm - Yup. I was still wide awake. After I had my snack at 4, I helped Daddy make dinner, and then Mommy gave me my dinner. I'm starting to wonder when I'll get to have some of that food they eat that smells so yummy. The stuff in the bottle is good and all, but... oh well.

7:30pm - After dinner, Mommy washed my face and put the creamy stuff on. I love it when she washes my face! It's a lot of fun. She makes silly noises, and it feels really good. Then we played something called "Patty Cake". Mommy kept wiggling her hands in front of me. It was pretty fascinating. She tells me I have hands of my own, but I'm not sure I believe that. Anyway, after that, I went and hung out with Daddy.

8:00pm - Yawn... feeling kinda tired. I think I'll fall asleep soon. It was a busy day. I wonder what we'll do tomorrow... Mommy said something about "baby-robics". I'm not sure what that is but I bet it's interesting.

Excellent Tim - warming the bed for Baby Girl. I used to take a heating pad ( set on low ) and put it in the crib when they were up for night feedings, then take it out and put down Baby A or Baby B - depending on who was up and hungry

She certainly does seem to like her bouncey chair. I like the little pink hibiscus bib. She really is quite the "beach cutie".

I remember a little girl that had to have a half hour to herself after waking. Without it, she was a very cranky little girl. That need for a little "transition" time lasted into her teens (and maybe into adulthood - I don't know because she left home for good when she was only 18).
