Inquiring minds want to know what's on Bobbin's B-day list

We've had a few questions already from family regarding birthday gifts for Bobbin so thought I'd list Bobbin's interests and hobbies these days.

1) Exploring - she's huge on exploring - takes her magifying glass out to the garden on a regular basis; enjoys capturing-and-releasing rolly-polly bugs in particular; is learning about butterflies and ants at school with a real butterfly environment (caterpillers spin coccoons, emerge as butterflies; class sets them free) and a miniature ant farm. She has a great magnifying glass already, but anything else relating to exploring will be a hit.

2) Expermiments - they do a tonne of observing and drawing in their science class and journals at school which she loves. She is naturally inquisitive (Tim has a solar power experiment kit that he's planning to do with her because she asked us how energy from the sun can be trapped to make electricity for the lights to go on).

3) Notebooks. She hordes 'em. She loves notebooks of any shape, size, and kind.

4) She's still heavily into art but she has a pretty diverse supply of materials and mediums already... with one exception. Her playdough supply is low (primarily thanks to an incident involving an overly-curious dog and a preschooler with a propensity to leave her stuff lying around on low tables) .

5) Reading. great stories with great illustrations.

6) Sports & outdoor - she loves being outside; no matter the weather.

7) We've managed to largely avoid commercialism-induced wish lists with the exception of one TV ad on the Sprout Channel for Pillow Pets. It's actually pretty funny, and a testiment to just how well targeted advertising to kids actuall works. A couple of weeks at the dinner table as we were talking about her birthday she informed us of the following, and I am NOT exaggerating or misquoting:

Bobbin: "Mom, for my birthday what I REALLY REALLY want is a Pillowpet".

Me: "A Pillow pet? What's that?"

Bobbin: "It's a pillow, that's a pet. It's a pillow pet. It folds closed into a fuzzy stuffed animal like a unicorn and you can open it up into a regular sized pillow. You can order them on the computer at pillowpet dot com and it's ONLY twenty dollars!"

Yes, that crap came out of my daughter's mouth verbatim. Amazing, is it not?! At any rate, that is the only branded request she's made which is something, I think.

Most of all though, Bobbin wants her BFFs there to play in the water with, and eat icecream cake, and generally have a big party.
