Tim's working on his resume and wanted a nice HTML version to publish on his professional site (which is still under construction :-)). I did some internet research and found this great template. Simple, elegant, classy. I've never used PHP, but I didn't have to know anything about PHP to just fill in the data in this template, using a simple text editor.
Alex King's HTML Resume Template
Here's Tim's finished resume so you can see what it looks like (soon to be posted on his own web site :-))
I love the links at the bottom to the emailable HTML version, as well as the plain text version. Very handy.
It is now officially here -

The number of people who have reached this blog as a result of searching the internet for "marryacanadian.com" has risen dramatically in the last month and a half.
Alas... it appears that site no longer exists! All the single canucks must have been snapped up in the 2004 election aftermath.
Tim was smart. He married me BEFORE Bush got re-elected.
Weird funkiness with this web site this morning causing a random, old, photo album to appear instead of our home page, but it's all fixed now :-) The exciting and riveting tales of my exercise endeavours and Bobbin's latest re-enactments can now resume.
Decided to finally try the "Blog It!" button on Internet Explorer to see what it does. Testing 1.. 2.. 3..
This is what I was reading when I hit the "blog it" button:
It's my home page. Nothing really special there. But now I know what "Blog it" does.
Zippidee doo dah.
Let's explore some of the other features of the "Windows Live Writer" now.
| Oooh... | tables... | how | cool |
| is | that? | Me | likey. |
Hmm... what does this "Insert Map..." do? Let's find out, shall we?
This is where I went to high school.
That's actually a pretty darn cool feature, I must say.
I wish I could select the category for this post. That's about the only thing lacking, really.
Update: Well... not the only thing. You should see the HTML that this thing generated in my Movable Type edit window. I can't even read it in the Movable Type editing interface. Ah well. It's still pretty cool.
Hey, that's MY map. Sweet.

I recently joined the blogher.com community. I've been reading the blogs of some of the members for a while now and enjoying them immensely and so I finally thought why the hell not. I'm a woman, I blog (hehe... I almost wrote glob there. I'm eating chocolate cake as I type so my hands are a little sticky), I'm literate, my run-on-sentences and overuse of commas aren't the worst writing offenses one can commit. I have stuff to say. I'm told that a little tiny bit of it is even moderately interesting. So after being somewhat silent for several days in the forums and just watching the dialogue , reading the various contributing editor posts and browsing through the recent entries, I found one article about working moms and the sharing of duties that I felt resonated with me and my own experience. And so heady with the idea that I had information worthy of sharing with this group of women, I took a bold step and decided to go ahead and add my comment.
And oh, I wrote a glorious comment. I was eloquent, relevant, personal. I regaled my comment with tales of my own perseverance and inner turmoil and life struggles. I bared my soul. I was so proud. I even managed to minimize the comma use and keep my sentences to a reasonable length. And I included a link here, to my blog, to see if maybe some of those who read my comment might be interested enough to want to read more stuff I had written.
Yes, I was ready to join something and be an active participant. I haven't tried joining anything, I mean really joining with the intent of actively contributing, with the exception of the friday night gang which well, you guys know... you're special (and you can interpret "special" any way you think appropriate :-)) since attempting (and failing miserably) to fit in with the popular kids in high school. Even when I joined the Heart & Stroke foundation marathon training group I still trained alone - running by myself at my own pace, and choosing to warm up and cool down in my own little patch of green grass. I didn't try to learn anything about anyone or share anything about me with anyone. I was content just doing my own thing and not trying to forge new friendships or relationships or whatever.
But this... this time I was going to contribute and share. I was tingly with excitement. I read and reread my comment and then I clicked "submit".
And instead of seeing my comment appear at the bottom of the page, I was redirected to a maintenance page where I was told that the blogher site was down temporarily and they were very sorry for the inconvenience.
And it was lost. Forever. No amount of clicking the back button or searching my local hard drive for a cached copy of the web form would bring it back. And by then the moment and emotions were gone and it was too hard to recreate. And I was just feeling pissy and not so much like "sharing". And the second time around wouldn't result in anything nearly as good as the first draft.
The moral of the story is of course the same as for functional spec writing, really good flame mails (that you've already decided you were committed to sending), the C++ code you wrote all term for your honours project in computer science, and tax returns: Save often and save often. So you'd think I'd have learned that lesson multiple times over by now.
But I want you all to know - Wow did you miss out and you're all a little less for not having read what I never submitted.
I've been bored with the way my web site looked so I decided to spruce it up a bit with colour, images, and a bit of rearranging. I must say, I do like the new look. And I learned a tonne more about cascading stylesheets, PhotoShop Elements 4.0, and HTML colour codes; moreso than I had known already from previous efforts to give the site a little pick-me-up.
I still have a bit of work to do; Comment Preview has been broken since I upgraded to MT 4.0 many moons ago and is still broke today, and I need to spruce up my side menus a little bit more. Also not entirely sure what I'll do with all the real estate on my archives by month page - it's kind of a useless place right now with just a date dropdown; might as well have left that on the front page somewhere. And I am not happy with the way my archives by subject is currently organized - I think I can get a bit more sophisticated and user friendly there although I don't want to just make it a dropdown as well; I have some ideas though. Also need to update the photos on About Us to make it more in keeping with the rest of the artwork. But all that will happen eventually.
Lemme know what you think of the changes so far :-)
I have discovered a flaw in Galerie. Or perhaps it is just in the way in which I am using it. When I used BreezeBrowser on my PC to generate HTML files, it would generate a name for the HTML files, thumbnails, and converted images that was based on the original image file name. For example
This naming convention allowed me to regenerate the photo album, even changing the order of the photos or inserting new ones in the middle instead of at the end, but still maintain the integrity of the links that I had in my blog entries to individual photos.
Galerie does things differently. I didn't even notice until I was scrolling through my recent entries and noticed that Janel had posted a comment that said "Kitty!" in response to a photo that I had published of Bobbin eating a hotdog. Only it wasn't a photo of Bobbin eating a hotdog when I published it. It was a photo of Bobbin holding a kitty. But I had since updated my photo album and moved some pictures around and when I regenerated it in Galerie, Galerie renamed all of the files. So for example where my original album had the following:
L16.jpg = converted image generated by galerie of Bobbin holding a Kitty
When I added new photos into my album and reorganized it, Galerie regenerated all the file names, so
L16.jpg = converted image generated by galerie of Bobbin eating a hotdog.
If I keep adding photos to the end of the album I don't have a problem. But if I do end up inserting some in the middle, this is an issue. Seems a silly way of doing things in my book.
I'll have to see if there is a way to override this in the application preferences or something.
In the meantime, I've updated the entry to which I was referring so it is now correctly showing a photo of Bobbin holding a kitty again.
I think I may have actually fixed up my photo album. I've checked it out in firefox and IE and it seems to render fine... except for a little error icon in the bottom left (which I'll get around to fixing, but not just yet). Not exactly a thorough test matrix, so if you do see some weirdness in my October photo album, I'd appreciate you letting me know so I can fix it.
but at least I can sleep tonight, and tomorrow I can begin uploading new photos! And we do have many ;-)
Videos are going to have to wait for a bit, unfortunately. One step at a time!
Have no idea why the photo in the last post was so stretched. It was taken from my iPhone but I still don't understand why it turned out all wacky. And the photo album, which rendered nicely on my Mac in Firefox does NOT actually look the way I intended when viewing from my PC in Internet Explorer. The format is all wrong. So I gotta figure that out too.
Still - I'm further along than I was without Galerie.
My contingency plan, if I still can't figure out how to easily publish my photo albums from my Mac to this site is to install Parallels so I can run Windows Vista from my mac, but I want to really give it a good go before I just fall back on my old familiar Windows experience. Gotta give apple a fair shot at my usership. But I have limits - one more week :-)
I have finally found the answer to "breezebrowser" for the Mac. It's been my quest for the last week since I first got this thing, and it's the reason for my relative silence and lack of new pictures :-)
After toodling around on the Internet looking for "Breezebrowser for the Mac", knowing full well that is not actually what I would find since I had already read the support pages for Breezebrowser and they said in no uncertain terms they do not now, nor do they have plans, to build a mac version.
But the blogosphere is full of mac users who have had to figure something out. Because iPhoto / iWeb for all the two's relative easiness is rather lacking in sophistication needed to actually produce a custom web site to be published to a custom blog that is not a ",mac" web site. . You just can't get in and modify the templates to the extent that you need to and have them look any halfway decent. And so it is through the mac blogosphere - in particular the subset of mac users who used to use PCs and have found themselves suffering severe withdrawal for lack of breezebrowser, complaining and whining and wheezing to all who will listen (and I will, because I suffer the same trauma) - that I found the closest thing I've come to an answer yet. And it's free. It's called Galerie, and if the name doesn't give it away, the interestingly formal style speak and not quite comfortably english manual , along with the little link at the top right that lets you view the french version of the site should inform you that it is developed by a French company located in Toulouse France. Which is just a cool little side fact, but kinda fun.
What really matters is that I was completely able to build my custom templates for my photo albums in this, and have it publish it into a folder I can then FTP up to my server. My workflow from getting photos off my camera, onto my computer, and into my web is about the same as it was when I was using breezebrowser on my PC. And it's cost me the same amount of money.
To do my HTML editing I use Amaya, which I've found to be suffient for what I need. Not bad.
To FTP I use CuteFTP for the Mac - I was using the PC version prior to my recent technology life shift.
So - I get them off my camera straight into iPhoto where I dump them into Albums. I select the album I want to publish and I open up Galerie, select my template, hit the publish button and poof, it generates everything. Then I upload the entire directory to the web site. Pretty much the same stuff I did before.
But I can't tell you how relieved I am, because I was NOT having a happy time using iWeb and .mac. Even though I got close as you can see from my first test post using that process, it was really really really hard to manipulate all the stuff I needed to and kludge it all together, since I didn't have direct access to the template source to be able to modify it.
I've heard this from Apple users before and I'm starting to feel it myself. It has a great surface - shiney, pretty, fun little apps to do fun little things. But the minute you want to go deeper, you realize there is no deeper. You're in shallow water as far as they eye can see. Total sand bar. Which is comforting in one way - you know you're not going to get in over your head. But frustrating in another, because you also can't really have as much a say in what you do. What if I WANT to go scuba diving? What if I want to explore the coral reef that is HTML and XML and cascading stylesheets? I'm stuck on this sandbar. The view is nice, the temperature is right, it's pleasant and my feet feel nice. But I need more.
Anyway, it appears now with the following additions to my mac mini I've been able to start to get back down to the business of being a semi-creative computer semi-geek.
- Firefox (It's just so much more like IE than Safari. Yes, I hear myself. I know what I sound like.
- CuteFTP
- Amaya for editing web pages
- Galerie for creating web galleries from photos
Of the stuff that came on my mac, I find so far that the main things I use are
- itunes
Uh... and that's about it, actually. I do want to check out iDVD and iMovie - see how creative I can be in there. Those are two places where I'm not as saavy and actually would be the target user for applications - can't get into too much trouble but can still do some pretty fun and cool things. At least, that's what I'm expecting.
Anyway - without any further ado, I proudly announce the first publication of Bobbin's October 2007 photo album. Check it out and let me know what you think. There are a couple of nits I need to work out - like why the center part stays white all the way down to infinity despite the fact I'm using the same stylesheet and much of the same code that I did in the old albums. Wacky. I'll figure it out though. The point is - I CAN POST PHOTOS AGAIN!
So... Enjoy! :-)

Of course, OSX is all based on UNIX, so it's more like a shallow pond on top of an ENORMOUS CAVERN OF POWER for former unix nerds like yourself :-)

and now i am testing the new iPhone-specific mt4 interface. It's pretty slick!
Just upgraded to MT4 (my first in a series of steps that I believe will enable me to start publishing photos directly to my blog from my iPhone :-)) so wanted to test the waters and see if everything's working as it should.
Hello world.
Can you hear me now?
a coworker forwarded this one to me, after asking how I was and hearing my response "trying not to get sick" :-)
Basic but entertaining. And who knows... maybe someday, even informative ;-) Certainly a cool idea. But the best part is filtering on symptoms. Try filtering on "Bloody Stool or Urine" in the 98077 zip code, and look for the Male, age 28, with sickess starting May 11th and you'll see what I mean :-)
On a whim, I looked up Simcoe, Ontario. Apparently there is at least 1 person, male, age 30, with similar symptoms as me (Muscle ache, body ache, tired) in the town where my parents live. I can rest assured knowing that if my parents do in fact come down with whatever it is I have, it isn't necessarily because I brought it with me ;-)).
Oh, sis, I looked up Bobcaygeon, Ontario as well and you'll be happy to know not a single sick person in sight. Either that, or they don't have internet access. Or they have internet access but they're too sick to click their mouse :-). Toronto, however, is a cesspool of germs. Good thing you're honeymooning in Quebec City.
There seems to be an outbreak in the Seattle area. Are they filming a Romero remake or something?

So here are the top internet search strings people used to arrive at our site in the month of June:
#2 - 20 week ultrasound pictures
#3 - ultrasound 35 weeks
#4 - 20 week ultrasound photos
#5 - 6 week ultrasound pictures
#6 - girl ultrasound pictures
#7 - 11 week ultrasound pictures
#12 - 6 week ultrasound
#13 - 7 week ultrasound photos
#14 - baby 35 weeks
#18 - baby girl ultrasound
#19 - baby girl ultrasounds
Sensing a trend? There appear to be a whole lotta people out there who just had their 20 week ultrasound done (which is the one where they attempt to determine the sex) and want to compare/contrast or reassure themselves that the girl the ultrasound technician is 95% sure they are having, looks like other peoples' girl ultrasound photos!
Congrats to all you parents-to-be out there and hope you enjoyed our pictures :-) I know I still love looking at them, and it's been over a year! :-)
Ok - someone out there in the great big internet is really really interested in poop. Of the top 20 searches that led people to this web site in February (thus far), 3 of them were all about poop. Ok Gracie, so maybe you were right :-)
#14: adult babies farting and pooping
#18: babies largest poop blowouts and stories
#19: babies worst diarrhea blowouts and stories
Um... I'm thinking I don't want to know what this person was REALLY looking for with these search queries. especially #14.
I'm also sure I don't wanna know what the 3 people searching for "crazy pigs" were hoping to find on this site.
Ah well. Gotta love the internet!
No. 14 was on CSI once. And a couple of Maury Povich episodes.
when they typed these search queries into the internet and arrived at our web site?
- "3 letter words ending in h"
- "a sister i haven't met yet"
- "baby bouncy bouncing ball chair stories"
- "cat lick heater vent"
- "common side effects with respect to inappropriate dependancy to"
And do you suppose they found whatever it was here at timothyandheather.com?
Interestingly enough, the most common internet search queries so far this month that have led people to our site had to do with Christmas in Canada:
#1: christmas in canada
#3: canada christmas
#16: canada and christmas
Saedigh.com is still apparently THE source on the internet for ligers and liger-related paraphenalia.
Posted by Saedigh on December 20, 2005 11:25 AM.
Apparently June was the month of wedding planning, but July is the start of baby making season. Hmm.... best not to hypothesize or ponder too long on that. It's only July 7th, but here are the searches that are leading people to our site thus far this month:
- "am I still ovulation if the ovulation kit says not ovulating"
- "baby girl pictures.com"
- "borderline low amniotic fluid in second trimester"
- "can a baby bouncing in a bounce house cause any damage to her brain"
Hehe - been there, done that, had those same questions and irrational fears. Still do (different questions; resulting in same irrational fears ;-)). I know what you're going through people! And best of luck to all of you :-)
June web stats show the following internet searches are the primary way folks are arriving to our site this month. Makes sense - it's that time of year ;-)
- wedding dress
- beautiful wedding dress
- amazing wedding cakes
- wedding invitation
- wedding magazines
- beautiful wedding dresses
- beautiful dresses
Best Wishes and Happy Wedding Vibes to all you brides-and-grooms-to-be!(Although I suspect it's the brides-to-be moreso than the grooms-to-be who are checking out our wedding-related archives and photos ;-)).

Thanks to Tim and Dave for help in finding solutions to the image linking and theft problem :-)
1) Hotlink Protection - Lunarpages, the fantastic folks who host our web site, in their infinite wisdom have provided a "hotlink protection" feature that, when enabled, prevents other websites from directly linking to certain types of file types on your web site. Other sites will still be able to link to any file type that you don't specify (eg html files). So I've enabled this to prevent folks from linking to my image files and thus stealing my bandwidth, so to speak.
2) Right Click Disabling - the above solution doesn't prevent folks from right clicking and saving a local copy of the image however. So to counteract that, I found a great java script at dynamicdrive.com that disables right-clicks specifically on images (because sometimes people want to be able to right click on links, or use the right-click menu to view source, save shortcut and other things - to which I am not opposed).
Seems to work. I'll have to redo my photo albums slowly, but that'll be easy.
In browsing through my web logs to see what people are hitting on my site, I came across several links to various strangers' personal blogs. When I followed those links, I discovered that these strangers were linking directly to photos I had taken on my blog. The images themselves were not hot linked for people to be able to click and get back to my site - they were just serving up the image directly from my site within their own blog.
No trackbacks or attributions were given to the photos and my permission was not asked to use them.
they're not super impressive photos. One of the photos was of the gold-plated sink I took with my camera phone in a store window during my Cannes trip, for example.
I'm not sure how I feel about this though. should I
1) Let it go - it's no big deal; everyone does it and I'm just being bitchy
2) Say something to them
3) Move the photo so they have a broken image on their site
4) replace the photo with an image of something obnoxious so that shows up on their site instead?
5) Simply regenerate the image with a copyright watermark (and get in the habit of doing that for all my photos from hereon out ;-))

well, I ended up posting a comment on this person's blog to the effect of "Glad you thought that this photo I took was interesting enough to link to it directly from your web site" and then regenerated the image with a watermark.
The comment and the newly watermarked image stayed on his site for about a day, and then I noticed he had deleted the comment, made a local copy of the photo and had cropped it, removing the watermark.
Whatever dude.

One would think they would have covered the removal of copyright information and the use of media without permission or attribution in the class. Perhaps that's why he got an A- and not an A.
Ah well. Gotta love the Internet? A photo of a gold sink taken with my camera phone is probably not really worth my time and effort.
I'll chalk it up as one more of my anonymous Internet legacies - you heard it here folks: I am the real creator of "the gold sink photo".

June is barely underway but I am still amused at some of the search strings people have used on the internet to arrive at our site. Among my favourites so far this month:
- radioactive glow
- squirrels with cats
- stunk
- doppler tim
- 20 weeks pregnant and can't breath well
- 3 musketeer candy
- balsamic vinegar contractions
The last one intrigued me the most so of course, I had to find out for myself what one could possibly be seeking with that search string. And that was how I learned that apparently balsamic vinegar has been known to be an effective agent in inducing labour. Or so the internet "experts" say. Huh... good to know. I'll have to ask my doctor about that when I see her next week, as I've been indulging regularly in the stuff ever since I posted my new favourite salad recipe.
The things you learn from the people who visit your web site - and they don't even have to leave a comment! ;-)
I'll let y'all know what a REAL doctor has to say about it after next week's visit ;-)
I think I answered honestly...! Still - not what I was expecting. But I'll take it ;-)
It's only the 2nd of May, but I had to know - how are people discovering our illustrious site these days?
Apparently they're finding us by searching the Internet on "baby burrito", "elephant ear fryer", and "stinker", to name a few.
It's got the makings of a fine cookbook, doesn't it?

"Schiksa" is still the No. 1 way to find saedigh.com. A new entry this month was "crying in my car". I guess the person looking up "farm whores" became depressed?
I am constantly getting "comment-spammed" with commentary and links to porn, gambling and drug/online pharmacy sites.
I'm also constantly getting trackback-ping spammed with links to the same types of sites.
And lately I'm now constantly getting "referrer-spammed" with the same.
MT-Blacklist has been a life saver to deal with the comment spam. But it's still requires some (albeit very minimal, which is a plus) administrative effort to de-spam moderated comments and keep the filter up to date. I've also dutifully installed the nofollow plugin in the hopes that eventually if enough people use it, it will make some sort of difference.
For the referrer spam, there are now apparently some scripts out there that will help clean up referrer spam that I'll have to check out when I have the time. That is but a minor annoyance at the moment, but it would be nice at some point to have clean referrer logs again to see how people are getting to our site - just out of curiosity.
But this latest spam that I received is an all time time new one. It was comment spam, but it wasn't about gambling, or porn, or drugs, or the rest of the usual crap. It was targeted. Based on the content of our site.
Thankfully, MT-Blacklist forced moderation on this comment because it was posted to an "old" entry (although relative to the target entries of other comment spam I regularly receive, it wasn't such an old entry) so it never got published to our web site, but it kinda blew my mind. I've cleaned it up to remove all URLs, names and email addresses, because I'll be damned if I'm going to provide them with free advertising or increased ratings on search engines, but here it is (as you know if you've been reading this blog, we're in the process of building our "dream" house)
Email Address: [some plumber's email address]
URL: [a home contractor web site. Which actually did link through to a real web site that contained sponsored links for home contractors]
Comment:
Need a building contractor for that new house of yours?
It would appear that it's not random anymore. And it's not just about porn, gambling and drugs and cheap prescriptions. And it's likely no longer just about higher search engine results placement or referral rankings either. It's now all about targeted advertising and solicitation.

Wow. I am sitting here in our division meeting updating my blog from my Nokia 6800 cell phone. Because....I can :-). Not bad... Not bad at all. The 6800 has a foldout QWERTY keyboard that makes it easy to type. And, clearly it has a web browser allowing me to navigate to and sign into my blog. Unfortunately I will need to wait until I get in front of a computer before I know what this entry will look like because the browser on this phone can't handle the size of the web page.
And editing is slightly challenging because the web UI isn't optimally designed for the 6800's web browser. and typing with my thumbs - even on a qwerty keyboard - takes a little longer. Even for me - a typing superhero. But it is still kinda cool that I am able to do it at all!
(blah blah blah - sounds of meeting going on in the background).
Just THINK what i could do if this phone had a camera!
[Edited from the PC]
Now that I am back on my PC I should mention (because I hit the character limit when attempting to type from the phone... plus, it was taking too long) that recently (well - Sept 8th) Six Apart and Nokia announced their collaboration to create Nokia Lifeblog - a more powerful mobile logging experience allowing people to publish content on the web using their Nokia mobile devices, using TypePad by Six Apart. I believe specific Nokia devices are being targetted, and I believe you download software to your Nokia device.
Well - I don't use TypePad. I use Movable Type. Which has a web interface so in theory is accessible from any mobile device with a web browser already (although, as someone who works in the Mobile software industry I know it ain't nearly as simple and straightforward as that in actual practice ;-)) But it made me curious... would I be denied moblogging ability because I'm using Movable Type and not TypePad? Well - it all depends on how badly I want to blog, I guess. The Movable Type UI on the Nokia 6800 web browser was really not good. Everything rendered, and I could type and all, but the page layout was intended for something with much more screen real-estate, and having to scroll up/down and left/right just to get to where I wanted to be on the page was a pain and slowed me down. Actual text entry was fine cause that's what's so cool about the 6800. It was the page layout that was challenging to deal with. But it's darn hard to serve up properly formatted pages for every mobile device out there - even if you limit it to just the most popular devices, or just WAP 2.0 devices, or what have you. They are just all different.
I do want to figure out how to make my actual blog mobile-accessible for reading though. Although I'm probably the only one who will actually read it from a cell phone - and how interesting is that, really, since I wrote everything in it? ;-)
What it really all comes down to is - I'm a geek. A mobile one at that. And I love this stuff.
I was feeling somewhat creative, so played around with the stylesheet and made some changes, as you can tell (if you've been to our site previously) and also had some fun in Digital Image Pro making new graphics :-) The only thing nagging at my brain is why the link text under the "about us" picture is not properly centered. I'll have to figure this out. Other than that, I think I like it... I might futz with the link colours a bit more so it's a little easier to tell what's link vs what's plain text. Overall I think it's a little bit brighter than the old look. And I learned some new stuff.
However I was smart enough to have made a backup of my old style-sheet before starting so if I decide I wanna switch back I can do so pretty easily :-)
Let me know what you think...
I got my first comment spam today! How exciting.
There is probably some kind of netiquette that says "thou shalt not post search strings used to arrive at your site" but I just can't resist. It's not like I know who these people are or where they came from. I don't. I find it amusing that among the top 17 search strings people have used on the internet to arrive at our site are the following:
1 - buzzlightyear
6 - timothy hassleback
10 - name the 7 dwarves of the tale snow white and the seven
11 - archives of authentic ancient greek outfits
and my favourite
17 - used escape playcat
Just what *was* that person looking for in that last one, I wonder?
This Just In...
according to MSN Search the Escape Playcat is a boat.
And sure enough, there we are - result #15 at the bottom of the page :-)
How does one find this information?
Lemme know if the instructions Tim and I sent helped you. Enjoy :-)

Yeah - I know... this totally makes me a geek. But I couldn't help it. This blog stuff is all still so new and exciting for me ;-). There are much more interesting posts further down. Really!
First - thanks to Tim for setting this up for me (and not getting annoyed with all my questions about how this web blogging stuff works. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and he set it all up for me today! And even backed up the content on the old site. He's so cool. Love you babe ;-) ).
As for the rest of you - don't hold your breath expecting to see something spectacular any time really soon on this site... this is all new to me. I have to figure out how to get all the stuff that used to be on timothyandheather.com over here. And then I actually have to do it :-)
Ok. Now for some content. This being my "first" post, it must be something prolific. But first - I need to figure out what each of these text fields I want to type in... Entry Body.... Extended Entry... According to the little help pane that popped up when I clicked the question mark above the text field marked "Extended Entry", An extended entry, combined with my entry body (which is the text field in which I am now typing) "make up the body of my entry". Sounds vaguely dirty. Or erotic?
Let's see... "I can use these two fields however I like: I could split up my entry over the two fields, or I could completely ignore the Extended Entry text and enter only the Entry Body text".
Ok. The first version of this post in which I made use of the "Extended Entry" text field elicited a "Hey - that SUCKS" from my better half, so I am revising this to NOT use the extended entry. Because apparently, what the extended entry does, is cause you to have to click a link to read the rest of my entry. Well hey - you don't know if you don't try.
Oh hey - I think I just figured out how I can format text. Most excellent.
Lucky for you I think I also figured out how to insert a URL. So here's your chance to escape this blog. Go. Run. Run fast!
Hahaha. Nice try ;-)
Seriously - you can see after a brief couple of hours of playing around with this, I am getting quite handy with it if I may say so myself. You'll notice I've managed to republish my 2003 Disney Marathon story in this new blog format. Not too bad for a rookie, huh :-) I even figured out how to lie about the date it was posted so it would appear to be chronologically correct!
Well - check back often... to re-read more epic adventures from the lives of TimothyAndHeather (Of course, if you never visited us at our old web site, this will all be New to You).
At some point, I promise to actually write some entirely new content. Especially since I have 2 weeks of vacation coming up, and I seem to have come to the natural conclusion of my latest book-reading spree.
talk to ya later!
I tried Twitter for about a day. I just couldn't get into it. It's too labour intensive...constantly notifying other busy people about what you're busy doing. That's what FaceSpace is for, isn't it?
